Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using HomeNog ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

HomeNog is a home inventory application that allows users to catalogue their personal belongings. The Service includes an "AI Vision" feature that uses third-party Artificial Intelligence technologies (OpenAI) to analyze images and extract product details.

3. AI Disclaimer

The AI Vision feature is experimental.

  • Accuracy: HomeNog makes no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of product information (Brand, Model, Serial Number) extracted by the AI. You verify all information manually.
  • No Reliance: The Service should not be used for insurance valuations or official documentation without manual verification.
  • Data Usage: Your images are processed by OpenAI. Data submitted via the API may be used to improve AI services and models according to our organization's current data sharing settings.
  • Liability: HomeNog is not liable for any errors, omissions, or losses resulting from reliance on AI-generated data.

4. User Conduct

You agree NOT to:

  • Upload images containing sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of third parties (e.g., government IDs, credit cards, medical records).
  • Upload illegal, harassing, or harmful content.
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.

5. Intellectual Property

  • Your Data: You retain all rights to the images and data you upload. You grant HomeNog a license to process this data solely for the purpose of providing the inventory service.
  • Service: The HomeNog application code, design, and branding are the property of HomeNog.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HomeNog shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or profits. These limitations apply to both free and paid use of the Service.

7. Paid Services and Subscriptions

Paid Services

HomeNog may offer certain features, functionality, or services that require payment ("Paid Services"). By purchasing or subscribing to any Paid Service, you agree to pay the applicable fees and comply with these Terms.

Billing and Payment Processing

All payments for Paid Services are processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. HomeNog does not store or process your payment card information.

By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge your selected payment method for recurring fees, applicable taxes, and any other charges associated with your subscription, according to the billing plan you choose.

Automatic Renewal

Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase, subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period. Charges will be processed using the payment method on file through Stripe.

Translation: subscriptions keep going until you tell them not to. No surprise carrier pigeons involved.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or through the Stripe customer portal, if available.

Unless otherwise specified, cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to Paid Services until that period ends, after which your account may revert to free access where applicable.

Refund Policy

All fees for Paid Services are non-refundable except where required by law. We do not provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods, unused time, or features you meant to try but never got around to.

We feel your optimism, though.

Pricing and Plan Changes

We may modify pricing, billing intervals, or subscription features from time to time. Any changes will take effect at the start of the next billing period following reasonable notice to you.

Paid Feature Availability

Paid Services are provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. Features may evolve, move, improve, or occasionally disappear as the product grows. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to any specific Paid Service.

Software is a living thing. Sometimes it naps.

Failed Payments

If a payment cannot be processed or your subscription becomes delinquent, we may suspend or downgrade access to Paid Services until payment is successfully completed.

Third-Party Payment Terms

Payment processing is subject to Stripe's own terms and policies. Your use of Paid Services constitutes acceptance of any applicable Stripe terms related to payment processing.

8. Account Deletion

You may delete your account and all associated inventory data ("Wipe Memory") at any time via the Settings menu. This process is permanent and cannot be undone.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

10. Affiliate & Retailer Disclosure

HomeNog links to third-party retailers (e.g., Amazon, Home Depot, Repair Clinic) for parts and accessories.

  • Amazon: As an Amazon Associate, HomeNog earns from qualifying purchases.
  • General: Links provided by our "Stuff You'll Probably Need" feature may be affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you purchase items through these links, at no extra cost to you.
